Have you ever found yourself unmotivated even though you have achieved one of your biggest goals? I have been there too. Recently, I went through a rough week. I was tired, moody, and unmotivated. I wondered, aside from everyday struggles, why my week was so hard for me. I had reached one of my goals this past year, starting a blog. I sat in adoration trying to figure out why my life had become such a drag. Then, I found myself wondering what I was trying to find the motivation to do. Graduate? No, that was to come in time. There had to be something else. Then, I realized that my pathway was so unclear because I didn’t know what my next big dream was.
Like a morning on the lake, unknown dreams are foggy. You see the light rise on the water, but you see no end to the fog. Last night’s sleep sinks you into the earth and you feel there is no reason to take a step towards the water. Yet, the hazy sky brings you excitement! Being that there is no defined image beyond the fog, you get to decide what you are looking for. You take a step onto the dock, breathing in the fresh air as the birds sing and the cool air lifts your hair in the wind.
In life, we are given, what I like to call, simple talents. Each one of us is given these talents to do God’s will. Doing His will is something we must choose to do every day. Now, along the way, we will have many victories and plenty of failures. However, God gives us these victories to give us motivation. He does not give this glorious moment to say that His will has been done. His will has to be done each day we live to see the morning again. And, I know that seems so challenging, but it truly isn’t all that hard if you use your simple talents. Think of a few God-given talents you have. Maybe it’s writing, reading, building, singing, dancing, or even simply listening. Use any talents you know to establish your newest goal in life.
When your life seems foggy, even though you have overcome a challenge, figure out your next goal. Take a step towards the lake, look closer, and figure out what you see. God will assist you with the talents He has blessed you with. In time, the sun will rise and reveal an even greater dream than you had before. You will see past the fog.
