The American Way

For as long as I can recall, the 4th of July has always been my favorite holiday. It’s a summer day set aside to celebrate freedom, independence, and the American way of life. Throughout the day, families gather all around the United States with cold drinks in hand, decked out in red, white, and blue. They cook, spend time outside, and light up the sky with fireworks to show that we are proud to be American. Each person spends their day differently and that’s the way it is meant to be. Each day, we get to choose how we spend our time. We get to guide our futures in the direction we want. We get to imagine a dream and figure out how to make that dream a reality. The American way is whatever way you want. In many countries dreams are kept a secret, tucked away in one’s mind as merely a fantasy. Yet, in America, we are able to decide our way of life. How do you celebrate your independence in your everyday life?
