This past week, I have experienced my first dose of writer’s block. I was so terrified that what I would say in my upcoming post wouldn’t top what I had written in my last post.
I had so much positive feedback from what I put on paper, but people kept asking me the same question. “How do you do it? I could never write.” But, I don’t write to be good at it. I write because writing is more than words on paper.
Because of the grammatical rules, so many people get lost in their heads about being good at writing. Yet, that is the beauty of journaling. Journaling doesn’t have to be grammatically correct. Sure, you can follow all the rules, but then you may never get better at creating meaningful sentences.
If you have noticed in my past writings, I write as if I am talking to someone, which is also how I journal. Sometimes, I write full sentences, but sometimes, my sentence is one word. My words may seem scattered, but that’s how I make my writings unique.
So, to answer everyone’s question of “how,” it’s simple. Just write.
Now, I know that’s hard for some people so I have set up a week of journaling topics. I have reflected on these questions recently to better understand who I am.
If you want, write about them, or even just think silently about them throughout your day.
Journaling Topics:
Sunday: List all of the things that interest you in life. Name each goal you have. What do you want to experience?
Monday: What kind of person are you? (What kind of learner or worker are you? What kind of friend are you? Etc. )
Tuesday: When are you the best version of yourself?
Wednesday: When are you at your lowest?
Thursday: What are your values and priorities?
Friday: How confident are you in the person you let others view you as?
Saturday: Do you value yourself?
All of these questions are so relevant in knowing yourself on a deeper level. They may be hard to have the answers to, but these answers can be just for you. Try it out.
I hope that your reflections on these questions help you all understand that writing is more.
