You Are Stronger Than the Struggles

I’ll put it out in the open for everyone to see: I HAVE PROBLEMS TOO!

Although I’m accomplished and happy, I’m occasionally emotional and confused if I’m even doing the right things. Does that mean I’m fake for having trouble and staying positive?

For a while, I let certain people convince me that it was only rational to feel the emotions I was supposed to be feeling. I let people dictate my emotional responses where they saw fit. On one hand, I was expected to be strong, faithful, and vulnerable. On the other, I was being “numb” to my emotions, “clueless” to my problems, and putting on a “fake" smile.

To be honest, I got so damn tired of giving everyone what they wanted to hear. I started expressing myself through writing. My problems became a bit more complex to the crowd. Those same people who decided upon my emotions, were the same people to show me compassion. Which only goes to show that you truly never know how heavy a problem is weighing in on someone’s life.

One loss can take down someone’s entire world, and who are we to decide we know what that looks like for them?

Strength in the struggles is empowering, but being stronger than the struggles means you are defeating the boulders life throws at you. And, that strength comes the day you decide that you are the only one who knows your story. You are the only one who can dictate your emotions. You are stronger than the struggles.

Far too often life challenges us with finding motivation. So, why not help ignite that flame for the person behind you? If you want to be the reason someone feels inspired, take a look at my recent "Wear the Words" design by clicking this link, Wear the Words by Bri.
